The Embassy of Argentina in Helsinki is looking for an assistant for consular affairs for a temporary full-time position, starting July 1st.
The Argentine Embassy in Helsinki is an official diplomatic mission in Helsinki with jurisdiction in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. We are looking for an open-minded, flexible team player with initiative and good communication skills and willing to work in a multicultural environment.
1. Main Duties:
(1) Work at the consular section (including telephone and e-mail correspondence)
- Issuing passports, visas, family register, citizenship affairs, certification affairs, assisting Argentine nationals, overseas election process, preparation of notary documents, monthly consular accounting, provide information on medical, educational and legal services in the country, provide emergency assistance, civil registry, prepare reports for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, etc.
(2) Preparation of documents related to the consular affairs.
(3) Other tasks required by the Embassy (not necessarily related to consular matters).
2. Working days and hours
Weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour lunch break.
3. Type of contract:
The position is open due to a study leave. The contract will have a term of 1 year with the possibility of renewal. The first month in position will include training with the consular officer.
4. Desired qualities:
- Attention to detail, strong analytical perspective and problem solving skills.
- Ability to plan and organize workflow, coordinate information.
- Knowledge of the local system.
- Ability to work at pace and prioritize.
- Making effective decisions, collaboration and partnering, managing a quality service, delivering at pace.
5. Qualification requirements
(1) Bachelor degree
(2) Minimum two years of relevant working experience (for example office/embassy work)
(3) Eligibility to work legally in Finland
(4) Finnish full proficiency, High level of Spanish (including document reading comprehension, fluent speaking), and necessary English skills
(5) Basic computer management skills (office package: Word, Excel, etc.)
(6) Interpersonal skills
(7) Previous consular experience will be considered a plus
(8) The applicant should be able to start their duties on 1st July 2019
6. Salary
26 000 euros/year

8. Selection process
(1) First screening: The applicants will be selected based on document screening.
Only those who are selected will be contacted for personal interview.
(2) Personal interview with small multiple choice test and a brief translation.
