SMART CITIES DELEGATION FROM ARGENTINA VISITS FINLAND & ESTONIA

This Embassy, together with Atlas Smart Cities, coordinated the agenda for a delegation of Argentine officials and professionals who visited Finland and Estonia to learn more and exchange experiences on smart cities, innovation, digital transformation, the circular economy, urban planning, and education, among other topics of interest.
Provincial and municipal representatives from the provinces of La Pampa, Buenos Aires, and Córdoba participated, as well as members of renowned educational institutions and specialists in artificial intelligence and communication.
On their first day in Finland, the delegation visited Jätkäsaari, a port area undergoing transformation that combines sustainability, innovation, and new urban development models in Helsinki, and attended presentations on digitalization, the use of data for urban planning, and the city's urban innovation center, Forum Virium Helsinki.
They were also received by the Mayor of Vantaa, Pekka Timonen, where they were presented with the MATTI operating model and land use information system, and visited a school to learn about the Finnish educational model.
The day concluded with the delegation's participation in the celebration of the 215th anniversary of the May Revolution, organized by the Embassy.

On their second day in Finland, the smart cities delegation visited the city of Espoo, where they learned more about its innovative ecosystem, digitalization tools, and the use of data for public management.
The delegation also participated in a presentation on data given by the VTT Technical Research Center, while also visiting the Aalto Startup Center and Espoo Game Lab.
In the afternoon, meetings were held at Aalto University, with an emphasis on the existing cooperation between the university and Argentine institutions, and on opportunities to deepen academic cooperation, increase student exchanges, and faculty mobility.
To conclude the agenda in Finland, we welcomed the delegation to the Embassy and held an interesting discussion about their experiences during the visit and future cooperation possibilities.
The delegation also visited Estonia, where they held meetings at the e-Estonia Briefing Center on digital society, interoperability, and digital public services, while also learning more about the E-Residency digital identity program for global citizens and remote entrepreneurs. The visit concluded at Tallinn City Hall, where they discussed the circular economy and digital government.
