On April 24, 2026, Ambassador Carlos Mascias participated as a guest speaker at the Seminar on the Mercosur-EU Agreement, organized by the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FinnCham), the Finnish-Latin American Business Council, the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce, the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and the Enterprise Europe Network.
The event was held to a full audience at FinnCham’s premises, with additional remote participation, and focused on business opportunities between Finland and Latin America in light of the upcoming provisional application of the Agreement.
Ambassador Mascias took part in a panel discussion alongside the Ambassador of Uruguay, Patricia Benítez Lima, and Brazil’s Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Braz da Costa Baracuhy Neto. The panel was moderated by Finland’s Consul in São Paulo, Kari Puurunen.
During his remarks, Ambassador Mascias highlighted Argentina’s potential for attracting investment, as well as the opportunities to strengthen trade ties between Finland and Latin America in key sectors such as energy, mining, and the forestry industry. He also underscored the importance of leveraging the opportunities offered by the EU–Mercosur Agreement to deepen bi-regional cooperation.
