Seinäjoki - Visit of the Mayor of Zárate and presentation of the Cumbre Mundial del Tango 2015

Osvaldo Cáffaro, mayor of the city of Zarate (Province of Buenos Aires) arrived last Monday for a five days-long stay in Finland, where he visited the city of Seinäjoki and held meetings with political, economic and cultural authorities.

On Tuesday, July 8, at the main building of the municipal government of Seinäjoki, Cáffaro met with his counterpart of Seinäjoki, Jorma Rasinmäki, as well as with the head of the Seinäjoki City Council, Kati Ojaniemi; the President of the University of Applied Sciences of Seinäjoki, Dr. Tapio Varmola; the Director of the Seinäjoki Tango Festival (Tangomarkkinat), Kalle Lähdesmäki; and the Director of the Cumbre Mundial del Tango, Horacio Rébora. Also present were Helli Kitinoja and Julio Vallejo, Manager of International Affairs and Ibero-American Activities Coordinator -respectively- of the University of Applied Sciences of Seinäjoki; and an official of the Argentine Embassy in Finland.

After the meeting the authorities were joined by members of the local press. Cáffaro officialy introduced the next edition of the Cumbre Mundial del Tango, which will be held early next year in Zárate, having been hosted the last time in Seinäjoki, in 2010.

Other than culture affairs, Cáffaro's visit also offered opportunities to talk with various Finnish counterparts about oportunities of cooperation in different areas of the economy and education.

Before returning to Argentina, Cáffaro -who was accompanied by the Secretary of Protocol of the Municipality of Zárate, Matthias Enz- attended the inauguration of the 2014 edition of Tangomarkkinat as well as the "King of Tango" finals, which was broadcasted live on Thursday evening.
