On the first day of the IX International Winter Swimming Championship, held in Rovaniemi, the Argentine swimmer Ola Matias, the only representative of Argentina in the tournament, was awarded a silver medal after finishing second in the 450 meters race (Endurance Swim).
The swimmer from Tucuman is one of over thousand swimmer from 35 countries participating in the championship, which represents a major challenge for athletes due to the extremely low air and water temperatures.
Hours before competing, Ola also took the opportunity to participate as a speaker at a seminar on winter swimming, in which he presented his project Unir el Mundo -sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship- and the International Winter Swimming Festival to be held in Argentina in July 2014.
